THE Signer's responsibilities

 

  • Documents should be filled out completely except for the signature, which should be signed in front of the notary.


  • Every signer must be identified under the regulations of CA law. (A Valid (NON-EXPIRED) government-issued photo ID or credible witnesses must be present.)


  • All signers must be of a sound mind and be able to make legal decisions for themselves.

  • Acknowledgments - For a signer, whose identity has been verified by a Notary Public, to declare to a Notary Public that they have willingly signed a document.
  • Jurats - For a signer to swear to or affirm the truthfulness of the contents of a document to a Notary Public or notarial officer.

  • Certified Copy of a Power of Attorney - For certifying a copy of a power of attorney under Section 4307 of the Probate Code.

A Notary Public is an official of integrity appointed by the Secretary of State to serve the public as an impartial witness in performing a variety of official fraud-deterrent acts related to the signing of important documents. 


Most importantly you will need to have the document you need notarized and your UNEXPIRED CA Driver's License or ID. Other forms of ID are also acceptable.

  • Permanent resident card, or "green card," issued by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services

  • Inmate ID issued by a county sheriff, if the inmate is in the custody of the county sheriff


ID'S MUST HAVE A PICTURE, SIGNATURE, PHYSICAL DESCRIPTORS, & SERIAL NUMBER ON THEM TO BE USED FOR NOTARY SERVICES. 


YES, to schedule an appointment, a NON-REFUNDABLE TRAVEL FEE must be paid in advance upon booking the appointment. 


In the event the appointment needs to be canceled by the Notary, your money will be refunded.
